Callahan Foundation Awards Grant to The Sculpture Center to Produce and Implement Nine Exhibitions

The Sculpture Center is dedicated to advancing the careers of emerging sculptors in Ohio and surrounding regions and preserving Ohio outdoor public sculptures. The organization supports artists and effects the enrichment, education, enjoyment and visual enhancement of the Cleveland community and beyond.

Concurrently with the organization’s ongoing exhibitions and programming efforts, The Sculpture Center continues to advance its goal of preserving outdoor sculpture.

The Callahan Foundation has awarded a $12,000 grant to The Sculpture Center to underwrite the production and implementation of nine exhibitions in 2015, each accompanied by educational programming of artists’ talks and panels allowing the public to interact directly with the artists.

Provided to the public free of charge, The Sculpture Center’s 2015 exhibitions are focused on the themes of “place, displacement and landscape,” providing an in-depth exploration of developments in sculpture and expanded media that are of great interest to early career sculptors and the artistic community of northeast Ohio.

“We believe that sculpture generates a nexus where narratives, materiality and medium unfold, refold and co-mingle,” said Ann Albano, Executive Director and Chief Curator of The Sculpture Center. “Through world-class exhibitions, programming and collaborations – which the Callahan Foundation has graciously funded – we can provide critical support to artists of our region and introduce local communities to the range of excellent sculpture produced in Ohio and surrounding areas.”
