Callahan Foundation Awards $300,000 to Support 13 Cleveland Nonprofit Organizations

The Callahan Foundation has awarded more than $300,000 to 13 deserving nonprofit organizations that are making a significant impact in the lives of others in the Greater Cleveland community.

The Callahan Foundation is proud to support the following organizations:

• Boys and Girls Clubs of Cleveland – Awarded $25,000 to support its “Breaking Down Barriers With Dance” program, which exposes at-risk youth to art and culture through classes, workshops and art-based community events.
• Cleveland International Film Festival – Awarded $25,000 for the presenting sponsorship of the Roxanne T. Mueller Audience Choice Award for Best Film, CIFF’s most coveted and prestigious honor.
• Cleveland Print Room – Awarded $10,000 to support staff members in their efforts to advance the art and appreciation of the photographic image in all its forms by providing affordable access to a community darkroom and workspace, gallery exhibitions, educational programs and collaborative outreach.
• Case Western Reserve University’s National Youth Sports Program – Awarded a $25,000 grant to support programmatic expenses for CWRU’s sports program, which annually serves more than 500 socioeconomically disadvantaged Greater Cleveland youth aged 10 to 16.
• Case Western Reserve University’s Research ShowCASE – Awarded $25,000 to support CWRU’s annual celebration of student research, discovery and innovation.
• Domestic Violence & Child Advocacy – Awarded a $10,000 grant to help provide resources and address safety and security issues in DVCAC’s Cuyahoga County Emergency Domestic Violence Shelter.
• Gilmour Academy’s Center for Performing Arts Project – Awarded $100,000 to fund the construction of a new performing arts facility, which will provide students with dedicated space to pursue their desires, develop their talents and creatively express themselves.
• Great Lakes Science Center – Awarded $5,000 to fund 20 summer camp scholarships to be awarded to Cleveland-area children in need and provide them with hands-on learning experiences and exposure to STEM activities.
• Lake Erie Ink – Awarded a $10,000 grant to help fund arts-based programming and to support the organization’s mission to provide Greater Cleveland youth with access to creative writing workshops, literacy, writing fluency and critical thinking.
• MetroHealth System’s School Health Program– Awarded $35,000 to advance its mission to provide in-school and mobile primary care and mental health services to vulnerable and at-risk students in Cuyahoga County.
• Scranton Road Ministries C.D.C. – Awarded $15,000 to support the ongoing five-year Organizational Development initiative, which focuses on community-based business development through job training programs.
• The Sculpture Center – Awarded $19,000 to support the organization’s general operations, fund programming and art exhibitions and assist with website redesign costs.
• UCI Transportation Study – Awarded a $35,000 grant to support UCI’s development and implementation of a dedicated transportation website, which will provide a seamless user experience for University Circle visitors.

The Callahan Foundation is committed to awarding grants to Northeast Ohio nonprofits in the arts, higher education and social services sectors.
